Well its back to the North East for us!
We have been in Canada almost 6 months now and hubbie has not been able to find work. Together with some other factors, like seriously missing family, not having the support system we did back home to help out with the baby and just missing that feeling of belonging!
Hubbie has a few jobs in the pipeline back at his old place so he will have to go home to start on the 15th of January so fingers crossed the house sells soon so we can all go home together.
I doubt we will struggle to settle back home as we haven't been gone that long.
We did have deadlines set in stone when we arrived, 6 months without a job, 12 months with jobs, then we would have made a decision to stay or go, if one of us was unsure then we would have stayed another 12 months.
So we have our 1st open house starting in the next 45 minutes.

I realise we are being extra cautious but with my husband being out of work for 6 months the chance of a well paid job back home amongst family and friends is very inviting. Luckily we never left England because we hated it or were affected by the yob culture we left for a different way of life and it has taken this experience to realise that life is pretty much the same wherever you live and so why not live close to family?

Well done for trying and good luck in your return. At least you tried and had a taste of living in a different country. Sometimes a spell away from home can make you appreciate all the things you left behind.
We put similar time limits on our stay in Australia - we said that if we didn't have a similar standard of living we would stay 12 months and then return. It certainly helped us in making our decision making.
Good luck

Good luck with the move. We too moved to Canada for a different lifestyle and change and said we would give it 2 years - we came home after 9 months! Same reasons as you (apart from the job). We missed family and friends and the networking as we have a young daughter who had hardly anyone to play with.
We have been back in the UK for 9 months now and have no regrets whatsoever about moving back. Yes, the UK has it's problems, but so does Canada and just knowing that there are people who care about you just around the corner is wonderful. Give me the UK anytime!
Hope the house sells soon and well done for having the guts to give Canada a try and also for coming back home. Don't let anyone tell you, you didn't give it enough time - you know when something isn't right.
