hi, I'm asking this for a friend who has no idea where to start. His daughter is British and married to a Chinese man. They married in and have lived in China for all there married life (around 5 years).
She came back for a holiday and wants to stay so obviously her husband wants to join her. What are their options? Any help much appreciated.

No, that won't be a problem - it's the UK citizen that has to have the income or the savings,so the woman in question will need a UK job anyway, unless they are using the savings route. Also, the non EU national has to apply for the visa from outside of the UK, so being in China is no problem, he can apply from there.

UK Spouse Visa - (unless the husband can get sponsored by an employer for a work visa). If you (or they, if they need the info) head over to the visa section https://britishexpats.com/forum/citi...-visas-uk-196/ there are all manner of threads with details and info

The wife will need to find a job in the UK with a salary of at least £18,600 pa and then work for six months in order to be eligible to sponsor her husband for a spouse visa. The husband will not need to find employment but he will need to have evidence of his English language ability - either IELTS A1+ or a degree taught in English.
