Default Advice on banking wanted

We are in Canada, and bank with the RBC. We also have accounts in the UK with First Direct, though we will probably switch to the Co-op when we get back.

We are moving back to the UK in a couple of years, when my husband retires. By that time he will have worked in Canada for 8 years, and he will get a pension from his employer plus the Canada Pension, but not the OAS, because he has not been resident in Canada for enough years (nor I).

What I want to know is what banking arrangements we should make. Ideally, I'd like to keep a chequing account in Canada, for receipt of my husband's Canadian pension, so we can transfer it over to the UK a couple of times a year. Is that possible?
