No. I was there. A mad American woman attacked him because he called her a charlatan. She had been telling some other (rather wealthy) Americans to invest with her and she could guarantee that a 40% annual return on property. Apparently she doesn't normally drink & certainly can't handle it.

Nice to know that the trouble maker was a yank and not an Essex boy, tho.

I saw a wonderful fight amongst some Pathans that stumbled out of the taxi-driver disco. There was bitch-slapping and sandal thwacking, then a thrilling chase down Khalifa Street....

Dubai has a dilemma to sort out - exactly WHAT sort of 'destination' does it want to be?
Expensive hotels, and expensive flights, considering how short they are from the UK......... which would suggest they want the 'up-market' visitor.........
........ but that doesn't rhyme with the sort of attractions they are building. Look at Dubailand - who goes to dinosaur theme parks? Lord and Lady Ponsonby-Smythe, or Mr and Mrs Chav and the chavlets......?

Honestly think Dubai is over-missed the boat.Being in the middle of the World-means whereever you are travelling from;there is always an equally placed alternative. The rate of growth and globalisation thrust on UAE since 1971 is unprecedented therefore no mentor for Dubai.Selling off its heritable property-mistake-well so much of it anyway.....Not much oil and gas revenue left-town full of gangsters, whores and comic singers....
Compare and contrast: AD..100yrs oil and gas reserves;strict control over powerbase ie heritable property; much more discreet marriage of traditional & modern architecture....more appealing.
Then-refer post today about new airport in Ajaman.....'build it and they will come'-said the spooky baseball player.....Somebody gave Kempinski the heads up there coz that joint sure ain't a stop off place for camel jockeys or Barracuda smugglers.
Dubai-Las Vegas on acid...arterial collaspe and main veins implode.
I used to love it too....kandooras and burberry baseball caps on the up.....
