I always knew I was doing okay, and that just confirms it. Not at all surprised to see the other results though - 35% don't get any housing allowance at all, 80% don't get school fees, etc.

Is this true for you?

How much would it take for you to consider a move?

By an amazing coincidence, the average for my job, for my nationality, in the country I'm employed in ........... is exactly the same as MY salary!!!
(a little digging shows that I am the ONLY person in all of those categories - hence I am of course earning the 'average')
All of you should check the sampling numbers - otherwise it's a completely meaningless survey.........

........ and the average just 'moved' - to the 'average' of me and myself.......
Complete and utter bolleaux - treat with huge amounts of caution.

I didn't even bother with the survey because any headhunter will tell you where you stand in terms of your counterparts in other companies...
But to answer my own question - I was recently approached by a bank - offer was 35% more - said no. Guess, it is not always about money. I love my current role and more importantly have a fantastic boss! Six months back I would have moved even if I was offered just 20% more...

I know several people who haven't had a 'pay rise' for years - but they seem to be quite happy every year at bonus time.........
Also - the survey is a flawed concept - those unhappy with their remuneration are surely more likely to fill the form in than those who are doing quite nicely, thank you - so the results are skewed before they are even compiled.

Not really, most movements happen soon after bonus is paid...
I managed to get decent increases (between 35-75%) for all my staff just before bonus....

I'm just saying people should be careful before placing too much faith in its results.
And as for what headhunters tell you - they have a commission to earn.....
"Well, Indie Girl, based on what you have told me, you are one of the best-paid people in the Middle East for your qualifications, experience, nationality and gender. Now what about moving to XYZ Company where you will earn considerably less....?"
