Hello all,

I'm just wondering if my girfriends sony ericson K800i (orange network) will work when we get to Dubai and put a the local SIM card in?

Is the phone unlocked? Otherwise, no.

I have the new samsung phone and all I did was go into my orange shop in the uk and ask for the unlock code for the phone. If you've not had the phone for long they may charge you. It cost me 20 pounds but it now means I can put any sim card in it. Don't use you UK card - it will cost you a fortune over here!! I have been stung - first bill was nearly 500 pound!

Or just take it to any phone shop in Satwa and they will unlock it for you, sure it will cost less than £20

£10.00 is all it costs, to unlock a phone, then it will work fine, any market stall will do it that sells phones

I will get it sorted as soon as i get there hopefully. are there plenty of shops in satwa that will do it? Will they be open on friday / saturday?

Yes loads, usually open 9-1 then 4pm onwards, not sure if open friday mornings but definately from 4 onwards.
