Also sorry for the million questions but I keep coming across Dubai Free zone...can someone explain what that is please...Thank u
Millhouse is being sarcastic/rude and the FPC is a Financial Planning Certificate. It's a very basic financial qualification and means little. Ignore him on this occasion.

A free zone is a specific economic zone where businesses can set up with certain advantages. They vary and there are numerous ones across the emirates but they are not all the same.

Bit overly dismissive. Like it or not, this is a career path followed by the many and it keeps them fed, watered, and housed quite successfully. For an upfront investment cost of about GBP1000, and two fairly simple exams he'd be able to get a job with any of the big-firms here. How people behave and what is sold is down to personal ethics, not qualifications.

Not really. Selling a few plans and giving professional advice are completely different things. Why on earth would you recommend that someone tries to make a living out of stitching people up? Most of those sales cowboys not only mis-advise but also fail personally and then those of us who do a proper job end up trying to pick up the pieces. It's no joke.

The ongoing digs are both tiresome and unwarranted.

I would appreciate anyone's input...thank you!!

Okay so basically I am currently working as Maths teacher in London, just completing my second year. I am hoping to get job in Dubai for Sept 2016.

I have been this my partner for over 10 years we are both 26 and we plan to get married before we move over.

Ideally we want to save money in Dubai to then come back to London to buy a property.

My partner is not very well educated, but has vast experience in customer service based jobs, ranging from Police Officer to working in travel agencies. He is currently based in a hospital doing administrative work.

If anyone has any answers to the following this would be very helpful:

a) where can my partner look for jobs and will it be hard to secure a job one without a degree?

b) How much should we be looking to earn each month combined and what's the minimum pay I should expect as a teacher?

c) How does working abroad affect our taxes?

I am just really confused with where to start this whole process. Also with teachers can you start mid year or only September starts?

Thank you so much for reading all this, any help advice would be much appreciated.
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Hi fellow member,

I have been trying to find a job in UAE from past 7 months now. I am a British citizen with Masters in Business and a Bachelors in Engineering. I am working in a reputable Oil and Gas service company as a Project Manager for over several years in UK. However my attempt to find a job in UAE (also in Qatar, Saudi, Oman) have been met with utter dissapointment. I have tried every possible recruitment agency, website, local company but didnt even recieved a single response. I wonder if anyone can guide me in right direction please. Do I need to change my approach? if yes then how? Please advise

giving the abysmal situation with oil prices, you'll be hard pushed to find a decent paying job in the oil industry over here. I'd stay put for a good year until things start to pick up (if they do).

I meant he does not have a degree...during his time with the Met Police he had to complete an intensive training course.

It could be your ethnicity--it's a racist world out there.

The Met certainly got an intensive workout on young students on the streets in 2011-2012. /s
