actually yeah it works fine on etisalat now, not tried skype to UK call but skype to skype is fine.

I'm guessing Du is another phone provider like Etisalat. Does anyone know if Du is available in Al Ain? If so can you use Skype credit to call land lines once you have downloaded with Du? I downloaded my Skype in Australia before coming over and have had no problems, however I can't use my skype credit to call a land line phone.

yeah it will, its seperate software that lets you bypass the restrictions over here, then you can look at any sites you want and use Skype,

no idea about hotspot, sign up to a VPN, it'ss scramble your data so no-one can see what you're looking at and you are free to do what you like,

They're the same thing. Hotspot is just the name one particular company has given to its VPN (Virtual Private Network) product.
