I have a partly paid-for apartment in the Lawns II development in JVS.

The developers - DEC - tell me that the permissions to build have been withdrawn by the government, and that there is little prospect of it being built in the next 5 years.

Also, they will not refund the money paid to date, and appear unable to offer an alternative flat.

Can anyone help with information on any recent relevant statutes or declarations by government, or indeed by personal experience of similar problems and any solution?

Failing that - are there other people in similar circumstances who would like to get together to see if we can fight for better treatment?

have been on RERA website but I am not sure they would be of any practical help. Maybe I should contact them, though.

As you say, I'm not looking for sympathy, but would very much like to contact others with money in Lawns 2 so that we can get together.

I'll be seeing DEC in the next few days, so hope to know more then.

Any Lawns 2 owners out there? Contact me if there are, as several of us together can do much more than I can by myself.

Just a question... are looking to get your money back or are you looking to be relived of the legal commitment to continue funding something that won't be built?

If the latter, then it is quite likely that they will, if you ask, have your contract terminated and release you. However, if you do that you also lose your right to make a claim against them. Sadly, the contracts here are not particularly enforceable in either direction so you might be in for a full loss. I hope it wasn't too painful.

I know money back is a non starter, but they cannot just take my money indefinitely?

Ideal would be to buy another - ready built - apartment in lieu.
