If you're going back to the UK then you're probably going to be paying tax on the lot....I'm sure someone else will know for sure though.

..... If you are spending your 28 (or some of it) off in another country then maybe a different story. All comes down to how much time you spend in the UK.

I worked overseas for many years, never on an 'equal-time' rotation though. There never has been any tax advantage for working equal time, otherwise everybody working offshore in the North Sea would be paying no tax either.

Doesn't matter whether it's PAYE or self-assessment i.e. your own Ltd.Co... the crux is where you live. If the OP works offshore Saudi but lives in the UK he's on the hook for UK tax no matter the contractual arrangement.

Hello wwhitty1976,
As Johnnyboy11 said, it is not as straightforward as it seems.
The area of residence is complex. Your individual circumstances would need to be looked at in more detail so you should seek professional advice.

It’s real easy. If you are jumping on a plane from Dammam at the end of your tour and heading for the UK every time, you’ll need to be saving for your self assessment. A good UK-based accountant can help fill it out, but near as damn impossible not to pay your equivalent PAYE. Used to be you could take 3minths of vacation outta the UK and stay under the 90 day rule, which put you non-resident and tax free, but they closed that..
But don’t take our word for it…
