Uk, India & Middle-East Tax Query
Hello Everyone.
This is my first post here, sorry if there are similar posts previously.
I am a British Citizen working in UK since long. Recently due to Covid, I took this opportunity to working from remote & went to India in Dec 2020, however still working for my UK employer. I am an limited company contractor.
As I have been paid all year in FY 2020-2021, I have filed the self assessment in UK.
However after 6th April 2021, I am still in India & continuing to work for same UK company. I have just accepted an offer for Iraq, where I'll join most probably in Nov 2021. Iraq PIT (Personal Income Tax) will be deducted in Iraq. The role is rotation based & I'll rotate to India on 6 x 6 weeks basis. So I'll not be UK resident for tax purposes this FY 2021-22? I have a residential property in UK where I lived & I have let it in Dec 2020. I have no family members in UK.
My query is:
1) For FY 2021-22, I understand I'll not be tax resident in UK as I have not lived in UK. Do I have the correct understanding, please?
2) I am thinking to get paid in UK for my Iraq job due to the fact that I already pay tax in Iraq & also because I don't need to pay any tax in UK, as I am no longer a UK resident. Do I have the correct understanding please?
3) Any income received in India is taxable, even after tax rebate claim of 15% tax paid in Iraq. I still need to pay 15% tax in India, so I am not looking to get my Iraq salary in India. Is it OK?
I really appreciate the guidance / member's experience please as I need the views in order to decide.I look forward the answers please.
best regards
Mittdee
