Default UAE National Bonds

anyone bought these? any income received back? any problems or redemption issues?

think of purchasing some for a while... most other interest rates are not to great anyways and it's a short term thing.

Hi Auto,

We have some, returns so far are fairly low (approx 2%) but with the ForEx rates as they are sending it home is a killer.

We have had no issues in setting them up, but have not tried to redeem any yet. What winnings we have had are sent in certificates as the equivalent value in bonds.

We are happy enough that we will look to get some more in the next couple of weeks and just keep our fingers crossed for the million...

Cheers.

I'm putting everything into them next week in time for the July 7 draw

apart from what I'm putting into Mashreq Millionnaire for the AED 4MM draw in August!

We've opened an account for our baby daughter as some friends here gave her money.

It was BC's idea and she gave me the form.

there seemed to be no conclusion on this topic... are ADCB still offering that offer?

What's your current view on the bonds? The UK national bonds were seen as a reasonable investment by financial types...

Cheers!

I did quite well early on - bought 5k to start with and won 1k in the first month. Won Dhs100 and Dhs500 since then. Prize bonds have arrived in the post promptly. The problem is that more bonds are being sold but there are the same number of prizes so chances are reduced every month.

I should be telling everyone that it is no good so they dont buy any more bonds and my chances of winning stay the same.

We have got some and seem to win every month! Not masses of money but it is a good way to save. Redemption is easy, you need to have had the bonds for 30 days before you can cash them in.

www.nationalbonds.ae, available at all branches of Al Ansari exchange, just need passport copy and you don't have to be a resident of the UAE

Good luck!

got some yesterday! Only there's no concensus on how close to the next draw date (i.e. every first Saturday) you can buy them to be in with a chance for that month. The Ansari Exchange people told me they didn't know for sure as they're only agents for the bonds company, and if you call them direct they say to guarantee it you need to buy two weeks before the draw!
