Funny I read this kind of things in guide books about this part of the world (SE Asia) and the reality is it's plain common sense. Then for the most part people will just ignore the gormless foreigner bungling around clueless! ;)

and for more information also, you cann't enter some churchs if you were not decent.. Please don't take bad image about syria.. it's so nice country and the people there are good, they respect all forign people and takecare of them, I wish you go there and check by your selfs, and if you need any help you can call me.

The strange thing is, you would go to jail if you show the finger to someone, but, you would only get 4 black points and 400 dirhams fine if you are caught (I've yet to know how many were actually caught in then last 10 days) tailgating...

In what way? It has some mountains and it snows in the winter?

Economically and culturally the Syria is not even close to Switzerland...

The legal systems here are simply insane...no country is perfect but when it's a more serious offence to upset someone with a rude gesture than to endanger others lives with reckless driving it says something about what the priorities of the culture are - and it would seem human life isn't at the top of the list.
