Taxation???
I hear that as of March next year Dubai income will be taxable- true or false?
i.e The country will start to collect tax from everyone like the rest of the world.

Its VAT sorry not just Tax, I got it wrong - well, my mother did who is on Holiday in Dubai now (but lives in Oman).

So how will VAT affect everything there? I'm not living in Dubai - yet - but want to know all about this before I get there!!! :curse:

It will increase the cost of Vatable goods presumably. The estimate for the opening rate - and it will probably be GCC wide is 5%. Probably won't apply to food, air travel or bails of hay.

There is no income tax per se in Bahrain but in June 2007 the Bahraini Government
introduced a 1% ‘social insurance tax’ on the salaries of both Bahraini nationals and
expatriates living in the state to help fund unemployment benefits for all workers

It is right, there is taxation in Bahrain or it is right, there is no taxation lol - Gee wiz, my head will end up caving in soon!!!

they claim that the VAT will have little impact on prices because they will be abolishing import taxes. Can't see it myself.
