Sunbathing In Beaches Dubai??

We have been given the use of a house in Dubai for a few weeks in Sep and just wanted to ask regarding beach locations where expats are allowed to sunbathe / wear swimwear without getting into bother.

Is it just Hotel private beaches?

If so are you allowed to just use them without being a guest? Pay a daily rate to use them or generally what's the score.

I know there is Atlantis but don't want to go there time and again if we just fancy a day at the beach relaxing / reading / sunbathing / swimming etc.

Thanks in Advance

There's numerous free beaches on the coastline, the most popular is Jumeriah beach next to the Burj Al Arab, you can wear bikinis etc, no worrys, don't wear a thong though, it's taking the piss.

Hotels, yes, many of them, AED300/day will easily get you beach and pool access, and it's a lot more layed back there.

One and only royal mirage is a good start, but so amy others.

No it is not ok to wear swimwear, on most beaches you have to sun bath in the nude, check the signage when you arrive.

It is fine to wear swimwear on all the public beaches. but NOT thongs and please stay away from the speedos :D
Just remember that there are very few facilities at the public beaches, except the beach park further along Beach Road. It is 5dhs per person to get in and has lots of areas for BBQ etc. If you take a drive along the coast road you will see what is available, just turn off the main road and then zigzag your way round Jumeirah/Umm Sequim area:)
Don't walk along the road in swimwear. There is no alcohol allowed but if you are discreet..ie wine in cooler bottles etc then nobody will hassle you. :)

You can get away with wearing a t-shirt and boardshorts away from the beach, so long as they're below the knee. But anything else, I wouldn't push it.

As for on the beach, you can wear pretty much anything. But for out of respect, like the others have said, avoid speedos/thongs.

It might help a little if we knew roughly where in Dubai your house is located.

Why does that matter? Once you drive to the coast it is a short journey along Beach Road to look at all the beaches.
The Timeout guide gives locations.

I believe (need to clarify) its just on the outskirts somewhere in the direction of Sharjah but a short taxi ride to Dubai centre.

We'll prob end up most days doing stuff in the city / beach areas hence the reason for asking in regards to Dubai really.

Possibly travel out and about as well further afield to do some more touristy type things on this trip.

Thanks.

In that case, Al Mamzar Beach Park may be your best bet. Five pristine sandy beaches for Dhs5 per person or Dhs30 per vehicle.
