Default Some mortgage advice required

Hi,

We have just bought a property in Scotland (ok no jokes or comments please ) that is being built right now (completion end 2008)

Over the next few months we are looking into the best mortgage that we can get to cover this.

My wife and I are both from UK and are both Full time employed UAE residents.

My salary is paid in AED and my wifes is in GBP(but paid into UAE account in AED if that makes any sense )

We have heard that HSBC international do a very good mortgage for expats. Does anyone have any experience in this field that would like to help out a thick sparky

In exchange, i can run a cable to power your house from your neighbour that you dislike's supply

you are better of getting mortgage in the UK, the interest rates are less, I think?? Norm will know he is a financial adviser.

Hi welcome to the forum.

I have just purchased a place in Dubai with HSBC with life cover included on a rate of 7.82 percent rate. I dont know if you can get a mortgage from dubai for properties in the uk?
But the mortgage department that i arranged mine through can be contacted on 043906255 HSBC hope this may help you?

you can get mortgages here for uk properties but the interest rate is higher, I think you base 1% higher than the variable rate in the uk for being an expat.

Hubby has bought a few small places in the UK but we also have our own house still there so were able to provide utility bills etc - did it all through a uk property managmement company who sorted the mortgage out as well - not sure whether its strictly legal but worked for us

What if i was to say i still live with my parents, as my electorol roll etc is still at my parents house. Do i have to submit some kind of tax form??
And i still have a fully functioning UK current bank account.

Thanks for all your help folks. The interest rate mentioned of 7odd % seems a bit high to be honest. I will need to investigate if there are any 'ways' around the expat thing.

Mind you if they ask for a copy of my tax return then i am screwed i suppose

Pretty sure we didn't have to submit any tax forms - in fact we have been told by IR that we don't have to submit any from now on!!!

Can pass on the guys details we used if you want but not until hubby gets back on saturday or sunday. This guy is based just outside of Manchester but seems pretty good.

Easily done - I have a qualified colleague who worked in HSBC's mortage dept in the UK and now specialises in mortgages for expats. He can advise on the tax implications etc as well - PM me and I will put you in touch and I'll make sure you're well looked after...

...in exchange I'll need to know if you can do power cable runs between apartments...lol
