Serious driving license question
Hi guys,
Been in Dubai 2 weeks now, loving it so far, wicked place!
I have a driving related question, hoping someone can help with:
I have a drink driving conviction from July 2005 which is obviously almost 3 years ago. Before anyone thinks of lecturing, I know it is a bad thing to do etc and learnt my lesson.
I lost my license for 12 months which is standard, and have had license again for 2 years give or take.
Just wondering what effect this will have when i have to show my paper counterpart to get a UAE license? I sent it to get my international driving permit and nothing was said or noted or mentioned of it, will it affect insurance over here? I know DD is zero tolerance, just wondering whether as it is an old offence in a different country it will go unmentioned or whether there will be hell to pay when I want to get insured! (like in the Uk - £4500 for a BMW 320 )
Thanks a lot for your help

I don't think it makes a difference. I know my points didn't make a blind bit of difference. (I had 9 in the UK for speeding - 3 different offences!)
They didn't get transferred to my UAE licence either

Actually read today in a free paper that an Arab woman got a fine and a ban for drink driving.
so much for equality of the law. anyone else would have spent time inside!
