Cheers for offer - I'm travelling most of March, got to go to Riyadh if you're up there and fancy a few Barbicans
Head is sore, although I've managed to keep vomitting to a minimum.

Hi again, N Lad!
I did my PADI open water with Al Boom when I first got here 2.5 years ago and have no complaints - the instructors were a good laugh, and the experience was improved by the delightful young ladies from Emirates who were my co-students
They do the pool training and the beach dive here in Dubai - for your boat dives they usually go to Fujeirah because the visability on the west coast sucks due to all the silt that's been agitated by the Palm & World projects... They are a little more expensive than some of the other operators (the Sandy Beach Motel is a bit cheaper, and quite acceptable) - but are better organized, and have nicer launches.....
Alternatively, there are a number of expats over here who operate as independant PADI instructors -> have fallen out of touch with the ones that I knew so can't help there.
Good luck - if you're ever looking for a dive-buddy let me know, haven't been diving for a few months now...(btw - the water is f***ing chilly at the mo, by mid-April it's beautiful...).

FYI - The dive course at Al Boom is half price if you have (or can find someone) with a manhatten credit card.
