Default Salik - road tolls

www.salik.ae

Saw ad for this in the Gulf News this morning. How will this affect you personally? and if you are using the toll roads for work will your employers pay the toll's? I don't use the SZR that much but there are time when I do go down to Wafi etc. It prob won't affect things that much for me but my DH is up and down the SZR all the time with his work.

What a load of C**P!
It would work ok if not in Dubai but the amount of people travelling on SZR and all requesting a tag at the same time....How are they going to cope with hundreds of requests within 2 months. And the hundreds of tag fittings. It will also push people onto back roads and Al Khail rd ...which will then also be tagged in the future...I expect. It does'nt really get the cars off the roads as people still need to get to work.
DH currently works in the middle of it as as travelling from 2 different sites will hit the zone a few times a day!

yes I agree, it will be complete chaos but I think it will reduce the traffic, initially on the SZR

taxis will be charged - most likely if you want them to go through the toll - you will be charged. Or you have to tell them to take the longer more congested route...

For a few dhs I know which I'll take...

Just get more taxis on the roads please...

Fortunately I don't use SZR much but when I do I would pay an extra 4 Dhs to have it jam free and a bit safer. But I do wonder how long it will be before the toll spread to other roads and bridges. It is too much of a money spinner to ignore. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask!

Also, if SZR is less of a car park does that mean "certain drivers" will try and go even faster?

Can you imagine the total carnage (pun intended) with all the non westerners trying to work out what to do with said sticky thing.

Money to be made, charge them 50 Dhs and provide a mobile sticking shop!
