Re: Salary and Package
A friend of mine has just been offered a position in Dubai, it's £40,000 a year, plus $2,000 US a month living allowance, medical and insurance inclusive, and 6 weeks holiday a year, 6 free flights to the UK a year also.
Would you think that would be a reasonable deal? Would the $2,000 per month get you a decent place to live? |

Good luck with the interview too. x |

Like I said, i genuinely don't know, but the standard of grads that the UAE universities throw out doesn't fill me with much hope for education here (I have some stories on that front) Just out of interest, do schools publish their exam stats here?? (I have no idea) They do but since the UK has just recently changed its policy on schools overseas it doesnt mean that much anymore(SATS) but if you phone any school they will be willing to give there result well the ones I know do............. I dont think you can compare Uni's here as I am just talking about the top end british curriculm schools here and I think most kids go home for uni, and I might add dont have a problem getting into uni's of thier choice........... I think things may change on that front in the future as more UK uni's are opening out here.................. |

Re: Salary and Package
That's $2k a month! The rent (£10k) is per year, isn't it?

Re: Salary and Package
No think what he was saying was $2000 equates to Dhs 7000 per month and you would need Dhs 10000 to get anything decent, ie 120k dhs per year as has been quoted (£20k per year !!!)

I would prefer to live in a villa since we have so many kids. ;) Plus, we are already paying for independent school here in the UK and all seem less expensive out in Dubai (which is a welcome relief).
I just want to make sure that we are covered until he finds work as well and we don't want to short ourselves. Any help will be appreciated. Regards! I'm in the banking industry too. It really depends at what level you join (middle mgmt, senior mgmt?) and your area of specialisation. But 25k salary per month PLUS villa, education, tickets, medical would be the minimum. Salaries have really shot up in this industry - so my advice is make hay while the sun shines and ask for top money. Feel free to PM if you need any info on any bank and packages :) Regards IG |
