Riyadh Compound - Al Romaizan
I have an opportunity to work in Riyadh, and as part of the package I would have a villa in Al Romaizan compound.
I was actually lucky enough to visit the company and also the compound last week, and the compound appears to be very nice, and appeared to be quiet, I had a meal in the restaurant which also was very good.
It was about 9 o clock at night when i got to go onto the compound, and it all looked very nice with its indoor and outdoor pool.
Does anyone have any any views on this compound, has anyone lived on this compound or is still living on this compound ?

This is a very nice compound, i used to pop a long on a weekend for a glass or three of brown water.
This was one of 3 that was busted by the old bill over the new year last year, and the welsh chap in charge has had a heart problem.
So its now a quite slepppyyy type place as a non resident you must be signed in by a resident of the compound. The lady that used to run the entertainment i think she is stil there.
But it being just over the road to the Imnan Uni where there are about 34000 students !!!.

Used to use the restaurant, which was pretty good, but as above you need a resident to sign you on now, so dont go as much.
Know a few people who live there and they seem to like it.

1- The gym is a desaster (all machines are old and out of service)
2- Insects in the Sauna
3- The swiming pools are durty.
4- The tables and chairs in the main swiming pool are durty
5- The compound is not managed by specialist in the domain and that is why it became like this.
6- Alot of corruption in this compound.
7- Very old equipment inside the villas and studios

Re: Riyadh Compound - Al Romaizan
Hi all,
My first post on this Forum. Found it by chance when I was dusting off the ghosts of the Middle East. Nice to read what people ara saying and see that things don't change much!
I was one of the very first to move into Al Romaizan in about September 1994 when it was brand-spanking new and SSSP had blocked-booked about 60 villas. Had villa #64 with date palms in the garden - one of the bigger gardens. It was fairly smart then but didn't have any sort of 'Compound Committee' to run things so the Centre and gym became disused, dusty and run-down. I tried to set up a 'Residents Committee' (to liven up the compound and to improve it) but the manager chickened out as he didn't like people power. I'm glad to hear that there's a functioning restaurant now. The pools were always very good and there was a move to screen/cover one of the pools for Muslim ladies. I see from Google Earth that one of the pools appears to be covered - so they succeeded!
Odd to hear that The Fuzz went in. Sheik Romaizan used to have plenty of influence. A Mutawwah vehicle entered a Dutch compound (can't remember the name now), chasing a resident in a car, and put the wind up the other residents as the alarm went out by telephone. They panicked and everybody dumped their booze and Sid into the baths and down the loo. Knocked out the sewage works for weeks!!!

My Response: This is very very bad compound. I am actually licving there:
1- The gym is a desaster (all machines are old and out of service)
2- Insects in the Sauna
3- The swiming pools are durty.
4- The tables and chairs in the main swiming pool are durty
5- The compound is not managed by specialist in the domain and that is why it became like this.
6- Alot of corruption in this compound.
7- Very old equipment inside the villas and studios

The maintenance and AC are pretty poor.

Re: Riyadh Compound - Al Romaizan
Salim Bajabir, the manager of this compound is corrupted and has no sense of the professionalism.
He is not specialized in the management.
The compound is slapping down.
He is not doing his job properly.
Everything there is going downhill fast and fast:
- Swimming pool (dirty)
- The gym is a disaster (nothing is working there)
- Insects
- Bad and old equipment
- The manager is doing nothing at all to improve the quality
He is the one to leave this compound if "Sheikh Romaizan" wants to have satisfied customers inside.
In case someone has direct or indirect relations with "Sheikh Romaizan", please do not hesitate to inform him about what is happening in his compound.
