Hi There
I have been reading the various threads about the visa rules but had a specific question regarding the return flights rule and the new visa rules. Under the new visa rules, as I understand them, I will automatically be entitled to a thirty day visa (I am an Irish citizen) but the return leg of my flight is more than thirty days after I will enter Dubai. I purchased this flight a few months ago and at the time my understanding was that I would be assigned a visit visa for sixty days (the return leg is 56 days after the outbound leg). I am going to Dubai to look for work and wanted to give myself approximately two months to find work. I am worried now that as my return flight is not within thirty days of arriving that this may cause me issues at immigration even though I can extend the visa to sixty days while I am there? Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Philip

from all i've heard and seen, it is fairly unusual for an 'obvious' Westerner to be even asked when he/she is returning, so quite probably the date of your return ticket won't even come up.

I was quizzed twice, once when I was entering at Abu Dhabi airport and again when leaving, the girl actually checked the date stamp on the passport……

From an earlier thread Blue cat's mother came over in the last 2 weeks and was given 60 days from the Uk but imagine Ireland nationality is the same

When I landed back here on Sunday I was given 30 days; been here 4 years without a residency visa, looks like I'll have to get one now

Hi All
Thanks for the information you gave above. I came in this morning and was assigned a thirty day visa. The person at immigration didn't even ask for my flight details.
