Only 10%? In the two and half years I've been in AD, rents have approximately doubled with no sign of slowing down.

My crystal ball(s) prediction is more of the same until at least 2010.

There are sectors in Government Employment that urgently need a 70% uplift.... A teacher in a Government school (God help them) is currently paid about AED 3000 per month. Little wonder that the Govmt education sector is in the abysmal state that it is.

Yes agreed the Govmt education sector is a disaster, Its not all down to money though.

The Min of Education hire and have been hiring for years, unqualified teachers. You could pay them 10.000 and the education standard will be the same

There are moves afoot to improve matters, they are providing funding for "Centre of Excellence" schools throughout the UAE with the aim of spinning out best practice to other schools. Also, they have started hiring Western-educated people as principles... There is an awful long way to go, tho.

SYB i hate to be negative but...... Western Principles have come and gone. They come out here and try to run the school in the way they should be, but, and its such a shame, there is always someone from above who interferes and ...

The prob in AD and it's not just restricted to schools it happens in nearly every sector there are just too many chefs in the kitchen

I'm not sure if Dubai has the same mentality
