Renewing car registration

Renewing car registration
I always have a mental block on this...
My car registration card tells me that it expires on 22/04/07 yet my insurance runs up to 25/05/07.
I need a year's worth of insurance to renew the car reg though...
When to I do the reg - now, before the 22/04/07 when the reg expires but I don't have new insurance - or do I wait until May when I renew the insurance and then go to the test centre...
Every single year I can't figure this out...

leave it unil the day before the insurance runs out then make a new policy and then register your car, you have a grace period of 1 month to renew your registration.
