Default Re-Spray of Car in Dubai

a friend of mine is importing an old GMC Sierra pickup from saudi into dubai. he wants to have it repaired and re-sprayed black (its currently a sand colour)...does anybody know the deal with registering/re-registering car's once they've changed colour? also if its imported on Saudi export plates and he has all the repairs and re-spray done before he registers it, will it still be approved by the RTA if the papers say the car its beige and it rocks up in matte black?

When I relocated back from Riyadh to Dubai I actually drove my car over (with export plates) and they did actually check a lot of details (engine number, chassis number, COLOR, number of seats etc) so I am guessing that you will need to import it as is or spray it pre export or after import.

Hope it helps

problem is that amoungst the repairs they have to remove the engine block so it just makes sense to remove everything, respray and then do all of the repairs.so it'll go into the country beige, turn black...then get registered...because as it stands it won't pass inspection and i was told it needs inspected before registration.

Tayls,

Have a look at this.

Excert attached is from page 69. You do need to get approved by the Police and RTA but when is not clear. Not too sure on the whole process but the RTA are normally pretty helpful if you call them...
