QS Needing some advice!!!
Right then…
I’ve finally been offered a job in Dubai with a construction firm!!! As a QS!! wooo hooooo!
I have a degree/ full chatership of the CIOB and 5 years experience on large PFI projects.
My query is will the package that they have offered be enough to live out there and also save a bit when I get back home after a few years out there
The package that they have offered is:
£30k/ per annum
Fully furnished one bed apartment (all utilities paid)
Car + all fuel
One flight back every 6 months
30 days holiday every 6 months
Mobilisation flight
£500 moving costs
Medical + life insurance
Will this be enough for me and my partner to live on and save?? If not, how much is??? –
If anyone could give some advice it would be much appreciated.]
Thanks

Re: QS Needing some advice!!!
seems to be a lot of stuff posted about Dubai the myths and legends!! Simple fact is the days of huge salaries have passed. However there is still money to be made, Dubai is no longer the hardship placement of years gone by, it is actually a great place to live. Salaries are still very good a good QS can earn 30,000AED p/m with full medical coverage and annual flight and bonus. An MRICS QS can earn more than this. A lot of attaraction is the size and scale of projects which are happening in Dubai and the middle east as a whole, the likes of which have never been seen before.
Well I maybe biased as I already live here.........and I work in construction recruitment!! The proof is in the pudding but most people thrive here and enjoy the massive challenge of working on mega projects.

Of AED course 9,600 is MORE than enough for two adults - considering that you only have to pay for groceries, entertainment and shopping. Everything else is paid for in your case, so no worries. Once the kids come, then obviously it all changes!

Re: QS Needing some advice!!!
I prob spend about 8000 a month and that is just on my own and although it does inc 1200dhs a month for a housemaid it doesn't include shoe/clothes shopping or holiday fund or savings etc
That is with dinner/Brunch out 1 or 2 times a week and drinks another night.
grocery shopping, tv/internet mobile phone calls etc.and I haven't included mani/pedi once a week, hair dresser etc either!!

His savings (another 8k) are going towards paying his mortgage.
