Qatar resident permit
Hi
I have just landed a job in Qatar, not working for a gov firm.I would like to know if a criminal record is required for a resident permit in Qatar? I had to go to court for speeding in 2007 and got licence endorsed with a fine..is this going to ruin my chances?

No problem with the above . This country is filled with crooks , you'll find your speeding fine quite ironic when you get here and drive !

Yes it's mandatory to have a Criminal Record to get a resident's visa in Qatar, the place is full of crooks.

It's ok, I think we all knew what you meant...

And no it's not mandatory, usually only done when applying for a Government or SWF type role.

Middle East is a haven for washing cash - not as bad as it was but still not ideal. Remember BCCI? They were based in Dubai.

You'll be fine. They won't need a criminal records check.

Make sure you have copies of your education certificates notarised, legalised and consularised.

Your family can come out when you do on tourist visas which means visa runs to dubai/bahrain/abu dhabi once a month. until you can sponsor them. While they can be here living with you they cannot get employment or get enrolled in school.

Once you have your residency which can be pretty quick or take ages (depending on your employer), you can sponsor your family. Then your wife can work on your soponsorship and your kids can go to school.

School places are like rocking horse poo so do some research first if you are bringing kids.
