Qatar information
Hi,
I'm considering a job offer in Qatar for the Asian games, 2 year contract.
I've read through the posts here and on expatmums site, but I am a single (divorced) male, so 9.30 am coffee mornings not of much interest!
Anyway, I gather that accomodation is expensive. I would have to arrange it myself for this contract. Can anyone give me an idea of the cash price per month of:
1. 1 bed flat
2. Room in shared expat house (if such a thing exists)
3. Any accomodation URLS
Any other info on the scene in Doha would of course be appreciated.
Thanks

Me and malteser living in Doha. I know a friend of her... (Qatar Airways Pilot), single guy living in 1 bedroom flat cost her 5.000 riyal (Malt... I am not sure about this, can u ask again to ur friend single pilot?)
Yes accommodation exspensive ... so make sure u have enough allowance.
Room in shared expat house does exist... i know a friend of us (english husband and filipino wife) rent out their room to help to pay the cost of the rent. The rest u can have a look in the local paper... sometime they looking for tenant...

U can try the above site, I know malteser family using that agent and they are not very happy with it.

Re: Qatar information
novita,
Thanks for the links, very useful in getting an idea of prices. Expensive yes, but still cheaper than London!! I think a shared apartment should come in at around $500 which is acceptable. Unfortunately, there's no accomodation allowance for me, just small relocation budget, then it comes out of wages.
Any more info / tips gladly received, will let you know if I decide to accept contract and come over!
Cheers

Btw, if u want to rent a saloon car it would be about 1500 riyal a month. I doubt it u want to buy a new one since u only going to be here for 2 years.

Yes our friend pays QR5000 for his one bedroomed apartment but if u check the newspapers u can find cheaper. Sometimes there r some v good deals. U just have to be patient. We managed to find a 4 bedroomed large house wt QR7000 so I guess u can find bargains.
Good luck wt yr decision!!
