A long article in a Swedish paper (link is to English article) which is something of an exposé. If you fly with them (or even if you don't) I think it's worth a read as it is about how their employees are treated.

I would rather swim. Send the Wife home on turkish the last 2 times and I have used Gulf Air. The article doesn't tell half the story.

It shouldn't and it's no excuse to treat people poorly. In fact there is never any excuse.

The way the crew get treated on QR is common knowledge here and not just cabin crew but pilots are not treated the best either compared to other airlines , it's also run by a Grade A tosspot .

Qatar Airways mirrors most things about Qatar in general . On the outside it seems modern , equipped and luxurious but beneath the thin veneer it's infested with the usual bog standard below par Gulf practices .

It's also a mediocre airline to fly with . Ive changed to BA and EK for long haul and only use QR for convenient short hops . The less money i give Qatari's the better i feel , i only want to take money off them .

That's exactly the same attitude some Gulf employers take to low paid staff as in " They're treated worse in their own country "

I have never flown Qatar Airways but, perhaps naively, assumed they were similar to Emirates. Another company added to my boycott list.

Thats what they want you to belive and a lot of people do as well . Its the same as the "Doha is just like Dubai was 15 years ago" routine . It sounds more than probable to an outsider but there's not one shred of truth to it .

Without doubt Qatar is one of the biggest white elephants in the modern world . It's whole PR game is based on illusion , perception and media promotion of it's sovereign wealth funded purchases driven on the back of 2022 . It also pushes itself on a world and political front which has given it more enemies than friends especially in the region .

I am a very frequent flyer and can honestly say that equipment wise and service standards are roughly comparable to EK. After reading this I spoke to one of my staff from Doha and he confirmed its pretty much all true. QR are now on my boycott list as well.

I agree with that, There is no difference to EK in service - infact my last few EK have been quite poor.

As CdB said the odious **** that runs it and how he treats the staff made my mind up for me ages ago - The more that boycott it the better.

Some of us will boycott and stick with it, but the sad fact is that few people seem to care enough to take affirmative action on anything. They usually can't be bothered to make a tiny bit of effort or pay a little more in order to do the right thing.

Call me idealistic, but such action by the masses can only make the world a better place.
