Hi All,

I'm about one month away from my job in the UAE. I'm looking for advice about a service that would send my mail from the US (California) to the UAE (RAK) on a regular (monthly?) basis.

My father would normally do this for me, but my mother passed recently and he's just not able to keep up with everything.

Currently I'm thinking about getting a P.O. Box and giving the keys to a friend(s) and leaving them with boxes, postage money, etc. but if there were a service, it would be much better.

I remember someone telling me about being able to order an Apple I-Pad from the states through some kind of service, and I wonder if there is something similar for my situation.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to RAK, where all the good guys live.

Our social life is not as manic as Dubai, but the quality is better. SLOW but FUN.

When you get to RAK, you will need access to a POB here too. They are very limited, so get to the post office, whichever is nearest, and ask for a box. If not able to obtain a box, then use your company POB.

In the states get a POB address from one of the companies, I think one is called MAIL BOX. Then give this address to your credit card company, bank etc, and they will forward for a small charge direct to your RAK POB.

Get on line access to all of your bank and CC accounts, as well as any other orgainisations that you are with.

Then download SKYPE and any other VOIP services that you use, or have access to.
Then register with any VPN provider, Hot Spot Shield, or similar.

Then when in RAK, visit Al Hamra Cellars and get a cold one.

I live in Al Hamra Village, and have a 3 bedroom house for rent, if this is of any interest.

If you need to get stuff from the US on a regular basis, you could check out 'Aramex shop and ship'.
Unnecessary for post, but great for buying.. ..stuff!
