Life is what you make it hun take the bull be the horns. x

I have to return to work in a few weeks following my maternity leave. I guess if I go back and I find it truly awful, I'll be booking my flight to Doha :D

For now it makes more sense for me to return to work, and then consider the move again later next year. Our son is booked (and paid) to join a nursery in Dubai in January and I have just paid out for a maid's visa and a few other things so would lose quite a bit of money by going now.

I'll be over and back for visits anyway so will look you up!

So how do you keep your residency in Dubai then , he can't hold 2 residencies within the GCC asuming that you're all sponsored under him on a bog standard visa ?

Even one that can't read and write, no I think the two Residence things is quite easy for Europeans. They are only interested that you keep them alive. Also that they get paid for them as well :)

You will have trouble at immigration for sure in both Doha and Dubai on a bog standard residency for both countries.

Two passports make it easier as well. I have my own sponsorship anyway. I only need his money!

I believe you can pay extra if you have them both in the same passport.

See point 6 - Husband works for the same entity in DXB and Doha so that could be why as well.

Also re point 1 on there, he did not have to relinquish his UAE licence, when he got his Qatari one.

Qatar's easy , there's far worse places in the Gulf it's just that Dubai is head and shoulders above anywhere else in the region , that's why some people find it difficult .

Qatar punches above it's weight in every department but at the end of the day it's just a bog standard Arabic city which offers limited choice .

It's all the same shite underneath just a different depth of veneer .
