Hi there!

I recently moved back to the UK from Bahrain and I need to get a Certificate of Good Behavior from there. I had to abscond on my visa after losing my job and being unable to pay off my debt until I received my final payment from my company - which was going to happen after they had notified the bank that I was no longer employed. I was advised that in this situation I would have received a travel ban and have an arrest warrant out against me. So...I panicked and left the country! I know that this does not constitute as 'good behavior', but that was the only thing I did wrong in my time there. My question is, does anyone know if this will stop the government from issuing me with a Police certificate? It is an expensive and lengthy process to apply from here and I am wondering if I should just go straight through the FCO to gain one?

Just saw this - unless the bank has filed a criminal case with the police, there should be no problem getting a certificate of good conduct from the police.

If you can check your account online, see if they have banked your security cheque, if they have, then they might have filed a police case, if not, then go ahead and apply for the certificate. Hope this helps.

Not very clear if the outstanding debt was ever paid. If not, its doubtful that you would receive the required certificate. Why do you need one anyway?

Very common - we needed one when we applied for a PR to Australia...

yeh, but he says he's moving back to UK so assum ehe's a brit so why would he need one ?

No...he said he absconded from bahrain to UK...so he's already in UK and perhaps looking to head elsewhere.


Anyway - he's not asking IF he needs one....he's asking if he will have any difficulties GETTING one.
