I would like to hire a maid to do 2 hours a day, five days a week but because I live at Dubai Marina none of the agencies I've tried want to do less than 4 hour blocks (too far to travel) and anyway I'd prefer to have the same person in everyday. So, can anybody clarify the legality or otherwise of hiring a part time maid who is on her husband's sponsorship? What would the going hourly rate be? The agencies all charge about 20Dhs/hr but I don't suppose the maids get to see very much of that. (I know it is illegal to use someones maid if they have sponsored her.) Alternatively does anybody know of an agency who will do 2 hour daily blocks at the Marina?

I live at the marina, i have a maid twice a week for 2 hours each time, 20 dhs per hour. Agency is ready maids. My only complaint is that they don't send the same one each time, and although most are excellent, some seem to leave the place messier than it started, but that's what you get from people that make less in a month than some of us make in an hour.

hmmmmmmmmm........... interesting that some people use specialist maid companies....... like urself. lol

I think the way we find our part time maids is thru the building cleaners. We just drop the hint and b4 u know it, we have a whole line up knocking on the dorr for a job. Then its just a matter of picking the best one.
