Just a quick question, I have some UAE Dirahms left over from a previous trip to Dubai, I am going to Oman next week and wondered if it was ok to use the Dirahms or shall I exchange for Oman currency?

You should be able to use dirhams in many places but the exchange rate will be a flat 10dhs/1OMR whereas the actual exchange rate is something like 9.5dhs or something/1OMR. Unless you're thinking of spending a fortune wouldn't think it's worth while exchanging your dirhams for OMR.

Hi,
Just watch out when paying for hotels. They always use the official exchange rate, and then some fraction below again - you always feel conned paying with Dirhams.

Dhirams are ok in the border locations and big hotels and tourist locations eg museums, but most small shops, souqs etc wont take them.
