Nursing in the ME
hi all, new to this site so apologies if i sound repetetive of other's questions!
im a single mum - daughter 14, son 7 (am on good talking terms with dad and should be no problems with any documentation, i have read about this before).
I am qualified nurse (bachelor degree hons) currently working in a nursing home which i really enjoy. i therefore have no specialised experience such as a&e, icu, etc, but i am tissue viability link nurse for the home and do a lot with wound care, stoma, cva, cancer, cardio/respiratory problems, epilepsy, dementia care (most of our clients are >80 years old).
i wonder if there would be any opportunities for me to nurse out there? i dont seem to be able to find any information regarding nursing homes per se on the net, but me must have some kind of facility to nurse geriatric patients???
all this is new to me but this is a serious dream at the moment, got a lot of homework to do re: accommodation, schools, etc.
many thanks in advance for any comments received.

Not sure you will earn enough to pay school fees for 2 kids out here on a nurse's salary. School fees are damn exp here, for your 14 year old, you would be looking at least 48,000 plus per year
Have a look at gulf talent website, i saw some ads for nursing jobs during the week.
Good luck

Re: nursing in me
oh hi, thanks for the help. have only just found out the fees for different schools - omg its really expensive! besides, my son has special education statement and needs 1-1 supervision at school. i was assured by some ppl that this would be possible, but havent found anywhere!
think i might have to give this dream up and think about doing something else for a while. ill probably reconsider once the kids are older and can look after themselves, maybe go out there alone. i can take some courses until then. thanks anyway

Re: nursing in me
its something ive always wanted to do, even if its just for a couple of years. i have decided to leave it until the children have finished most of their education. then probably go out there on my own for a while. i know someone who has worked abroad all his life is currently there at the moment, so i wont be alone. thanks for all your advice!!

Whilst your son has free schooling in the UK and you have this desire to escape to the Sun why do you not study Midwifery which is always in demand here. Any other experience ICU, Surgical will also help and dont forget Austrailia are recruiting Nurses but you have to take an English Exam and most North Waleans would struggle with that!!!
