Hi Thats about 1 1/2 miles from the old part of town Batha. as for accom its hard at the moment. Please have a look on the Wilki part of this forum i did post a list of most of the housing compounds on it.
There is plenty of info on many threads re Riyadh of lately. it seems more people are moving in to Saudi than any other part of the middle east.

If you try and get your company / Boss to sort out any accom issues long before you come over here.
i am in Riyadh so if i can be of any help please feel free to contact me, or send me a pm and i can send you an update list of the housing compounds.
but i think its best to let your new employers sort this out for you.

Hi all,

Im a British guy, 31, in Riyadh for a month now and still have lots to learn and skimming through this thread there is a lot being talked about.

As far as the socialising scene for us expats (brits in general) it seems daunting at first but gets better. The more you get to know people the more you get invited to other compounds etc.

There are about 40 of us on one compound in Riyadh and we have recently built our own 'bar' area (as most of the other compounds seem to have), we are looking to be hosting events and BBQs most weekends and if anyone is interested please drop me a line. The more the merrier !

Oh and the other question I have is does anyone know of how to register at the UK Embassy in Riyadh??

Re: Newbie in Riyadh

We're definitely interested in that (the bar I mean)! Where and when? We've been here just over a week now and are starting to find our feet.

By the way you register via the following link:
https://www.locate.fco.gov.uk/locateportal/

Its best to get your self on the rgbb listings. within the embassy but you can only do the registation on a saturday, i have the web site details on my office computer and will post it in the morning.
