New Years Eve Cancelled
Just heard Sheikh Mohammed has ordered the cancellation of all New Years Eve celebrations in solidarity for the Palestinians!!!!!

My guess would maybe just stopping fireworks displays?
I can't imagine shutting everywhere down on NYE would do much for 2009 tourism, considering there are a lot of people spending Christmas breaks here.

WAM has yet to clarify what the ruling means.
As usual, its pretty damn vague.
Although this line from the translation (spellng mistake included):
ordered the cancellation of all forms of ceberations marking the new year in Dubai emirate
seems to suggest that it is hotels too....i guess tomkat will be pissed off (like he is even here!!)
