New Law on Visa Run?
Hi
Boring topic l know, but cant get a straight answer on this from anyone including the Min of Labour. I have been in Dubai for nearly 12months now, and have had regular trips back to London and have done two visa runs. apparently under a new law these visa runs are restricted to two before you get residency visa, otherwise you get sent back home and not allowed to enter UAE for 6months. Does anybody know how true this is?
Also, my visa application has been in Min of Labour for 3 weeks, but my visit visa expired last week, am l still getting penalised for overstay even though my application for approval is submitted?

I understood that after 2 Visa runs you had to remain outside the UAE for 1 month. then you could come back.
Question is why hasn't your visa been sorted out when you have been here nearly 12 months? I am on my second work visa here and both were arranged within 1 month.

My understanding is the same as that of Insellafen (but all that means is we could both be wrong!). I haven't heard anything about a six month ban.
12 months to sort out residency does seem a little excessive however.

I know that some companies here deliberately don't start to process your residency visa until you've passed your probation, which can be six months in some cases... this is to save themselves money should you leave (or they decide they don't like you) within the probationary period.
Whereas I had mine within 7 days of stepping off the plane! But my first company here was very switched-on about that sort of thing.
