Default A needless worry?

To cut a long story short, we've spent 6+ years in Canada, I want to move back to the UK. The missus would rather put pins in her eyes, and so I'm looking in to possible alternative destinations. Staying in Canada is definitely not on the agenda.

I've considered Dubai/Abu Dhabi numerous times, but I'm concerned about the cultural differences- particularly as a) I'm an atheist, but more importantly b) my kids are girls. I want them to live in a country where they have equal opportunities, etc, and my wife is concerned that they'll be treated differently.

I'd be interested to hear from others in a similar boat, particularly if you have young children. Is this a valid concern? What are your thoughts/experiences?

Many thanks

how old are the girls?

best to visit the place - it'll be fine. They will be treated differently for sure... normally as princesses.

Buy the missus a box of pins, move back to the UK and make yourself happy.

Thanks. Kids are 8 and 10. Would still appreciate thoughts/input from people in a similar situation.

Neither of those issues will be the least trouble. Expat girls of that age won't be impacted, atheist or otherwise. Finding a job will be your biggest issue, depending (obviously) on what you actually do...

Take a job in KSA, give it 6 months and your wife will be pleading to go back to the UK.
