So my wife has been offered a position at a Bank in Abu Dhabi. We are in the process of filling all the forms etc. The Bank mentioned that she will have to sponsor me as a resident but we are not sure how we do this. Can someone help? or point me in the right direction of where to read about this.
Also does this Visa entitle me to work in Abu Dhabi or should i be applying for a working visa (if there is such a thing)
She also has to send her university certificate to a UK embassy for authentication, does anyone know the process for this. Is there a number we can call at the embassy for advice? there website is not the most intuitive
any help is greatly appreciated
Many Thanks

Where are you now? Are you still in the UK?

2) Take everything to a UK lawyer - they will know what to do and charge you 300 quid for it. You do half of this process in the Uk, half here.

We are still in the UK and she has been given an offer. They mentioned we had to do this ourselves though. £300, surely her company should be paying for all this?
Also on a side not what is the job market out there like, i come from an IT background so hoping to pick up some work when i get there. Can anyone recommend the best way of doing this. Any good IT recruitment companies?

Better chance of getting something if you have very specialised skills or upper level management experience with a blue chip.

Some companies pay for this, some don't.
You need to find a lawyer with Notary facilities - not all do that. There is, or used to be, a website listing Notaries in the UK - google will tell you. Also, have a look at the UAE Embassy in London website - they used to explain, in fairly poor English, what needs doing and how. They responded very quickly to e-mailed questions.
You definitely want to get the Bank to sponsor you, not leave it to your wife to sort it out - even if they charge you the fees subsequently, its a lot easier for them to do than for your wife.

Welcome to the tax free world. I would say this is normally the responsibility of the employee and not the employer. But... always ask.
