Default Moving to UAE??

Hi,
I've just joined the website as I am interested in moving to the UAE to work and thought this would be a good place to see how other ppl have found moving and what to expect living in the UAE. I’ve been to Dubai once, but that was 6 years ago and only for a weeks holiday.

I’m looking really to some advice on what life would be like for a single male aged 22 in UAE? Is there a good social/sports scheme?

Job wise, I’m a Quantity Surveyor with 5 and a bit year’s experience in a PQS firm and hold a QS degree. I would love to get experience working aboard and see how it works in other countries. If anyone has any advice on what to expect as a QS in the UAE and most importantly if they have a job to offer please message me.

Sorry if I have asked stuff other ppl have already posted.

Thanks for any advice,

Rich

Hi,

Life for a 22 year old single out here is a great scene....if you have a job with a good package

The problem for a QS is......Construction meltdown here means not alot of call for QS's - especially at 22 where you'd have no experience on major projects and would be competing against QS's with huge experience on major projects (Burj Dubai, Palm Island, Dubai Mall, Palm Jebel Ali, World Islands etc etc)

Great thought, but wrong time.

Why do you want to come here? If it's for the money, forget it...very few QS jobs going right now as the construction sector is even more depressed than a fully deflated balloon.

Was that after you finished your second tour of duty in Northern Ireland?
