Not read the previous posts but I always find TCP difficult to find here. Great for a sore throat and those nasty mouth ulcers.

You can get that here. You can even get the Paradontax with flouride...
One thing I did bring with me is an ioniser (they sell them in my local chemists at home, for about £12 I think): I use it a couple of hours a day and I think it helps to clean the air in my apartment. I usually also visit the kitchen section of TKMaxx when I go home, and get bits and pieces--not that they're necessarily unavailable here, but they're almost certainly hugely more expensive. Sad, isn't it.

Be thankful you don't have to buy Easter Eggs and Christmas Crackers - they are nothing short of extortion. OP - buy any smut you want at the airport, until you get the VPN sorted it can get a little rough here.

Dubai Duty Free used to sell SIM cards in Terminal 1 - I assume you can still get them in T1 or T3 (they will photocopy your passport).
It does get cold here in winter, I rarely wear a jacket but definitely jumpers.
If you sometimes have a few beers/glasses of wine at home then pick some up in duty free. You don't need a liquor license to buy from there, once you are through customs you can only but booze in liquor shops with an alcohol license (which requires residency). Just make sure you don't have any wild parties or piss the neighbours off, at least until you have a license.
The only thing we get brought over now are Star Bars and Viz magazine, everything else we have been able to get here.
