Re: Moving to Dubai Thoughts
I found it a bit strange when i first moved on to be honest as you're quite removed from everything. The funny thing is you don't have to come off , only to go to work !
Villa's are quite decent and they do a good job in keeping it looking good . i have a great landlord as well so that's a big help. I've lived everywhere from Midriff to Bur dubai and Jebel Ali Village over the years but i can't knock it up here to be honest .
46 dibs for a pint of Peroni is a bit steep though

Re: Moving to Dubai Thoughts
I've found a really good spreadsheet so have been analysing the finances but I know that there will always be a raft of other £££ needed. What should realistically be my target rental? I'm looking at 120-170 for a 2-3 bed? That realistic? What are my other costs on housing - utilities etc thanks for all the help so far and critics
Have a look on www.propertyfinder.ae and you'll get a feel for what's available . The rental game here is full of sharks , tread carefully .

Trying to convince the Mrs to stay out here a bit longer than 2 more years. A villa would convince so might have a sniff at Ranches, thought they were a lot more expensive.

Out there in a few weeks to have look around so looking forward to it. Is it possible to get AC included with a villa or will it always be separate?

Arabian ranches is my preferred choice from other friends I've spoken to. Another who lives at the greens highly recommends it for families as well.

If you are considering an apartment, look at MotorCity too.

Re: Moving to Dubai Thoughts
if looking for outside space then Springs cheap villas/townhouses work - although need to be carefully selective as a lot of dross in there....
