Hi everyone!

As you can probably gather from the title I am moving to Dubai in March and am EXTREMELY excited about the move!!!!!

My name is Adam and I am 23 from London. When I received a job offer from a headhunting firm I jumped at the chance. I suppose my main reasons for the move are the sunshine, quality of life improvement, tax breaks but mostly the adventure of it all!

I would really appreciate if anybody could share any advice with me regarding my move. E.g. Where is the best place to live (I am after a one/two bed apartment in a good central location)? Where are the best places for young people to hang out and meet new people (Bars/clubs)?? And also any general advice on moving would be greatly appreciated!

Anyway, I don’t want to bore anyone so I’ll leave it there. I hope to get to know as many people as possible and who knows maybe gain a few golf/drinking partners along the way….?

I have heard a lot about the strictness of the laws over there...e.g. you can't even hold hands with your wife?! How strict are the laws regarding drinking, going out, kissing etc.??

(no, I'm not talking about the one down there, but the one offered to you by your company). Once we have a good idea of your income and benefits then we can give you more specific advice.

We lived in Dubai for over two years without a liquor license and bought and consumed alcohol very easily. I never did any romping on the beach with my husband and didn't take my dress off in the mall, but others do - some get caught, some don't. It's just the luck of the drawer - if you're caught being naughty, be respectful and polite to the cops as it's your only hope.

Well I have got a base 18,000 AED per month. Probably won't earn bonuses for 1st 6 months though but I could perhaps expect to add 5,000 AED per month after that??

Jailed, deported - I think he was photographed partying in Dubai with some party hats stuck over his nipples or something equally classy just after they let him out.
