Moving to Dubai as Financial Advisor
I am working in sales in uk but have plans to complete a qualification to help me secure job in Financial services in Dubai.
I have a family who can hopefully join me at a later time ( wife and two kids 5 and 10 years old).
I would appreciate any advice and tips from anyone who has experience in moving over there and especially from financial advisors on what I can expect in career terms etc.
Many thanks

Sorry to be down, Bal, but the above speak sense. This is a very bad time to come to Dubai full stop, much less at the same time as restarting your career.

Try PIC ******, you don't have much of a financial background but could sell snow to an eskimo.

Dubai is going into recession right now, people are being laid off left right and centre so it's not the best time to come over and try to flog savings plans or even to be a proper qualified advisor since only an established person with a few years of UAE experience will be prospering or at least surviving now.
My advise would be to stick with what you're doing but by all means keep studying - there is a huge shortage of experienced and/or qualified financial advisors in this country (and an even bigger shortage of ethical advisors!).
Things will return to normal within a year or two and when they do Dubai will pick up again...then it would be a good time to come over...especially if you are qualified and can find a firm that has good compliance.

The UAE is not regulated and no qualifications are needed here to call yourself a Financial Advisor, and there are unfortunately a good number of very unscrupulous and unhelpful people here bleeding people dry and giving everyone else a bad name.

Thanks for sound advice I will consider all aspects of my move and am in no hurry to throw myself in the deep end without careful thinking.
I will be monitoring the progress of this awful recession we are in globally as well as Dubai itself and wait until the market picks up.
In the meantime keep me posted with any help and guidance or indeed opportunities that may come up.
Many thanks
Bal.
