Re: Moving to Dubai
for 1750 you'll get something like a sh*tty nisan tiida or toyota yaris - both of which will be a death trap, considering how appalling the driving over here is

Downtown is the answer anyway.
When settled and job is secure buy a decent secondhand car on a loan. My 370z loan payments were in line with your budget and I got the deposit back when I sold it.

Mirdif is worth a look. You'd find a place in that budget and close to the airport. Burjuman would be about 25 mins in the morning and 35-40 in the evening due to the Sharjah traffic.
Car wise, that budget isn't great. I get a Kia Rio (which is surprisingly good) for 1700.
And seriously, you've never been abroad?

You should be able to find a 1-bedroom along Sheikh Zayed in the stretch between WTC roundabout and Defence roundabout. Three metro stops serves the area. 10-15 minutes to BurJuman by metro (and avoiding the traffic/parking), 10 minute to/from airport by taxi, a decent western expat presence, bunch of bars, restaurants and all that. And only 20 minutes by taxi to the Marina on weekends.
Many buildings in this stretch don't advertise but have numbers on banners hanging outside the building so you can walk around and take notes or speak to the security guard at the desk. Finding a 1-bedroom for 80k is very feasible.
