Hello im new to this site and having read a few of the threads so far looks great. My family and i are moving to dubai at xmas. We are applying for schools and looking at houses but to be honest, i havent a clue where to live. Where would people recommend? Kids aged 6 and 8 and husband working in jebel ali. We were looking at arabian ranches and lakes. Can anyone help????

You could have a look at Jebel Ali Primary School and the compound next door to it Al Muntazah (sp)

Best bet is to try and secure school places for your kids before worrying about where to stay.

welcome to BE, check out Regent International School that is where my daughter attends and loves it, it's right next to the Lakes. Housing wise you get more for your money in Al Barsha than you do on the Lakes.

Hi thanks for reply blue cat. We looked at regent but full until aug 2014. Got a provisional place at gems wellington silicon oasis. Where would be a good place around there to live? Many thanks everyone for your help

Have you physically visited the schools? What i found - admittedly a few years ago - was that if you turned up and either paid a term/year in advance or worked for a blue chip the queues would mysteriously disappear....

My boy's at gems and I despise the company, the schools aren't bad but the company. Yuck.

Thats interesting to hear about the waiting lists. Ill maybe try that!
We are all moving at xmas and moving into a hotel so will have time to look at houses while we wait for our shipment.
