Moving to Dubai
Hello,
My husband and I visited Dubai last October and we would love to come and live there for a while but don't know where to start. Is it worth buying a place there and look for a job once in Dubai or is it much more complicated that this?
Please help, we're desparate!!

What lines of work are you and your husband in ?
The benefits of buying a property will be that alot of builders will give you and your family residency visas...which is nice, however you are then committed to staying even if you struggle to find work

I teach in a college of further education in England. I teach travel and tourism and French (I am French) I have a teaching qualification but not one to enable me to teach in schools. I have a degree.
My husband works for a bank on the business side. He does not have a degree.
Thanks for your help.

Most firms do insist on a degree, however from what i believe, if you work in the free zones that this should not cause a problem with labour cards and residency.
Again, if you work in a specialist field then they also turn a blind eye.
I believe one or two of the regulars here work in a college/Uni, hopefully they will be online tomorrow

I'm moving to Dubai in a few weeks, and I don't have a degree and I can't find my O-level and A-level certificates (it's been 15+ years!), but then I work in a fairly specialised field (TV production) where paper qualifications mean nothing and experience means everything, plus the company I'll be working for is based in a free zone (Dubai Media City), where the visa application process is meant to be considerably streamlined.
