Moving Companies
Hi all,
All the checks have been done and got my visa approved. I need to now fly out to Qatar and join QP.
I have an allowance to take my personal belongings and not had to do this myself previously. My current employer would do all the shipping when they relocated me to different countries. I need to relocate from London to Doha and wondered what companies people used? I'm going to do air freight as I don't have enough to fit into a container. Anyone able to recommend companies that deal with this? QP will give me 9,413 QAR allowance cap if that helps.
Thanks for the input/advice.

Re: Moving Companies
Currently planning a international move from an European country to the middle East. Happy to help with what I've found out so far as this is our first move sorting it all ourselves.
Freight is done both by weight and volume. From the quotes we have received so far, air freight is cheaper under about 4 cubic metres for household items. Above this it gets cheaper for sea ( consolidated shipments) but it's much slower.
You can use a international movers such as crown or similar. They are more expensive but will have an branch in Qatar who will deal with customs and delivery internally. This means less paperwork for you.
You can also find an agent who will deal with export from the UK only and you will need to find someone in Qatar who will deal with import and delivery. From my experience this is cheaper but will require dealing with 2 or more companies.
Hope that helps.
