Default Moving to Al Ain for the first time

Hello,

I am moving to Al Ain next week and I am a little anxious about what to expect???
I was wondering if there is a dress code?
Are there any local gyms and sports clubs?
Is there a large british expat community?
How do i get involved??
Any responses to ease my anxiety will be very helpful.
Thanks

If I were you I would trawl through the "living in Al Ain" post as it will probably have all the info you are looking for

I was wondering if there is a dress code? if you are a woman you should make sure your tshirts and shorts cover your shoulders and knees
Are there any local gyms and sports clubs? yes plenty, at the hilton, intercontinental, rotana and mercure jebel hafeet, also the palm sports resort
Is there a large british expat community? Yes, but you will find in reality that your friends will include people from all over the world, such as USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Canada, other european countries etc
How do i get involved?? Depends what you want to get involved in! We go dune bashing every weekend with www.uaeoffroaders.com (a totally free club) and our main friendship circle revolves around this, there are also morning and evening coffee meets, as well as a great quiz at the rugby club on a wednesday evening
Any responses to ease my anxiety will be very helpful.

I recommend the Al Ain thread too, but use the search option to wade through the 2500 posts on it!

Hope the move goes well
